‘When it comes to removing lead paint, safety is our number one concern.’
Any paint applied before 1978 almost certainly has lead in it, and painters must take special care to remove it safely. Lead-based paint poses danger to everyone, but especially to children and pregnant women.
George Mera, owner of Independent Painters, has years of practice in lead paint removal and is certified in safe-handling practices by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Our house painting crews take a number of steps to capture lead-tainted paint chips and dust. On exterior painting jobs, we hang blue tarps from the top of the house to enclose the area we are sanding and to keep dust from flying. We lay tarps on the ground to capture dust and chips, and we use vacuums and HEPA filters to minimize airborne dust. Our house painters use breathing apparatuses to avoid inhaling the dust themselves.
When we are finished painting your house, it is our goal to leave it as clean as it was the day we started work.
